The Manchester Terrier Toy was bred in Manchester, England in the 19th century for the purpose of hunting foxes, rats and other rodents. Also, representatives of this breed are used as guard dogs and family companions. The Manchester Terrier was officially recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1886.
