Pomapoo

Pomapoo

Description:

The Pomapoo (also known as the Pooranian) is a crossbreed. This so-called ‘designer dog’ was created by mixing the Poodle (toy or miniature sized) with the Pomeranian. The Pomapoo is not recognized by the AKC, as it is considered to be a hybrid breed (designer breed).

Height: 8-10 inches  Weight: 5-15 lbs.  Lifespan: 12-14 years

Characteristics:

The Pomapoo dogs are friendly, affectionate, intelligent and very playful. Pomapoos are strong, energetic and brave, with a slender physique and expressive face.

Character:

A loving and faithful Pomapoo is not suitable for families with young children. However, representatives of the breed get along well with dog breeds and other pets, provided that they grew up in the same household. Bored or neglected, Pomapoos will behave destructively, followed by incessant barking. Since this breed is very suspicious of strangers, it will warn the family about the possible danger.

Coat / Care:

The Pomapoo has a double coat. The outer layer is soft and voluminous, sometimes curly. The undercoat is soft and thick. This breed comes in white, apricot, beige, golden, black, brindle, brown, chocolate and fawn. Depending on the type, the coat requires either frequent combing or professional trimming. Oral hygiene is highly important, because Pomapoos are prone to premature teeth loss.

Health Problems:

The Pomapoo is generally healthy dog breed, but like all breeds, they can be prone to hypoglycemia, sprained knee cap, eye diseases (cataracts), various skin diseases, patellar luxation, epilepsy, tracheal collapse and retinal diseases. The Pomapoo has a life expectancy of 12 to 14 years.

Weight / Height:

The male Pomapoo dog breed’s height is around 8 – 10 inches and weighs around 5 and 15 pounds. Female Pomapoo dogs can reach a size from 8 – 10 inches and weighs between 5 and 15 pounds.

Training:

Pomapoos should start training at puppyhood, since they may develop Small Dog Syndrome. This breed will not respond to rude and oppressive methods of training. Only positive reinforcement will be effective, so the trainer must be fair, patient and tenacious.

Activity:

The Pomapoo is well suited for keeping in a city apartment, but he needs plenty of exercises to stay healthy. This dog should always have a lot of toys to keep him busy. Pomapoos enjoy walking on a sturdy leash or in a well-fenced yard. They are wonderful family companions.
