Description:

The Weimardoodle is a hybrid dog breed which is a cross between a Weimaraner and a Poodle. In the last few years, many crossbreeds with Poodles have become popular, since the resulting breed often inherits the Poodle’s hypo-allergenic and non-shedding trait. The Weimardoodle is one of those breeds. The Weimardoodle is not recognized by the AKC, as it is considered to be a hybrid breed (designer breed).

Characteristics:

Weimardoodles should be muscular, sporty and sturdy. They have the compactly-build figure and intelligent expression. Generally, the Weimardoodle will get along well with children as well as with other pets. This breed is restless around strangers and may even be jealous of a new child or a new pet.

Character:

The Weimardoodle is kind, loving and affectionate. He is also very amusing, courageous and empathic. Due to its large size, this breed is not suitable for families with young children. This dog gets along poorly with other pets but can tolerate dogs of other breeds. Weimardoodles are very attached to the family and cannot stand loneliness and boredom.

Coat / Care:

Weimardoodle`s coat can be short, straight and smooth or long, wavy and tough. The most common colors for Weirmadoodles are apricot, black, black and white, brown, dark brown and white. Shedding is minimal. Depending on the type of the coat, this crossbreed requires a frequent cleaning and even a professional grooming. Bathe your dog only if really necessary.

Health Problems:

The Weimardoodle is generally healthy dog breed, but like all breeds, they can be prone to Bloating, Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA), Hip Dysplasia and Von Willerbrand`s Disease. The Weimardoodle has a life expectancy of 10 to 13 years.

Weight / Height

The male Weimardoodle dog breed’s height is around 24 – 27 inches and weighs around 55 and 70 pounds. Female Weimardoodle dogs can reach a size from 20 – 25 inches and weighs between 30 and 55 pounds.

Training:

The Weimardoodle needs early socialization and obedience training in order to learn basic skills. The most distinguished trait of this breed is stubbornness, and he does not tolerate harsh training methods. In fact, training should be short and consistent, and the coach should be patient, respectful and loving.

Activity:

The Weimardoodle cannot live in a city apartment, he needs a vacation home with a large fenced yard, with plenty of space for games and they have the ability to walk independently.
