CAVAPOO DESIGNER DOG

Description:

The Cavapoo (also known as the Cavadoodle) is a designer dog, created by crossing two pure breeds: The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle. Cavapoos make excellent family companions. The Cavapoo is not recognized by the AKC, as it is considered to be a hybrid breed (designer breed).

Height: 9-14 inches  Weight: 7-18 lbs.  Lifespan: 10-15 years

Characteristics:

The Cavapoo is a compact, small or medium-sized dog with distinctive long ears and round, expressive face. It is usually well-built, agile and very hardy.

Character:

The Cavapoo is an affectionate, loyal and very popular hybrid. This dog gets along well with older children who know how to behave around dogs, and he is very friendly toward other dogs and smaller pets. In case of any unusual sound or possible threat, this breed will bark loudly to notify his family. Cavapoos are completely focused on the man and cannot be alone for long.

Coat / Care:

Soft and silky, the Cavapoo’s coat can be slightly curly. Depending on the type of coat, Cavapoos may need regular cleaning with a comb to prevent tangling and may even need professional grooming. It is important to check on the ears and to keep them clean. Also, make sure to regularly cut the dog’s claws.

Health Problems:

The Cavapoo is generally healthy dog breed, but like all breeds, they can be prone to hip dysplasia, eye infection, dislocation of the patella, progressive retinal atrophy, skin diseases and epilepsy. The Cavapoo has a life expectancy of 10 to 15 years.

Weight / Height

The male Cavapoo dog breed’s height is around 10 – 14 inches and weighs around 12 and 18 pounds. Female Cavapoo dogs can reach a size from 9 – 12 inches and weighs between 7 and 15 pounds.

Training:

It is recommended to carry out early socialization and teach the Cavapoo the basics of obedience rules. Like all small dogs, the Cavapoo can hardly get accustomed to house rules concerning cleanliness. Therefore, it is recommended to keep your dog in a special box for a while. Rough or heavy-handed methods are completely ineffective. As a matter of fact, education should be based on firmness, fairness, patience and consistency.

Activity:

If you provide enough mental and physical work, the Cavapoo can be perfectly content in the apartment. These dogs are willing to take part in all kind of family activities. They love daily walks on a leash and playing games in the securely fenced yard as well.
