PEEK-A-POM DESIGNER DOG

Description:

The Peek-A-Pom (also known as the Pominese) is a crossbreed created by crossing the Pekingese with a Pomeranian. This is another kind of “designer” dogs. Peek-A-Pom is not very popular among the lovers of hybrid breeds.

Height:  6-12 inches  Weight: 3-10 Ibs  Lifespan: 12-15 years

Characteristics:

The Peek-A-Pom is a well-built, strong and stocky dog. He is intelligent, active, robust and has an attractive appearance. The Peek-A-Pom is a highly energetic and loyal hybrid dog.

Character:

This breed is gentle, brave, sociable and very self-aware. This designer dog doesn’t tolerate loneliness and boredom. Therefore, if you neglect your dog, he will bark incessantly and destroy all around. This dog gets along well with teenagers and can find a common language with other dog breeds and pets within the family. These dogs are suspicious of strangers and will alert the family of possible danger.

Coat / Care:

The Peek-A-Pom has a double coat. While the top layer is long and short, the undercoat is very thick. The most common colors are black, black-and-tan, fawn, brown, sable and white. Even though this breed sheds minimally, it needs daily brushing to prevent the hair from tangling. Bathe your dog only in case of extreme necessity, using a dry shampoo.

Health Problems:

The most typical diseases of Peek-A-Poms are eye diseases, patellar luxation, hip dysplasia, epilepsy and hypoglycemia.

Training:

The Pominese can be quite stubborn, so early socialization and obedience training are a must for this dog breed. The coach must be strict but fair, and most importantly. These dogs will not respond to harsh and rude training methods.

Activity:

The Peek-A-Pom is very suitable for living in an apartment. However, he needs regular exercising in order to stay healthy. This dog loves playing games with the family and long walks on a sturdy leash.
