Description:

There are many designer breeds, Pitsenji is one of them. Pitsenji (also known as BasenBull) is a crossbreed, developed by crossing the Basenji and a Pitbull. They are medium size dogs and the breed is becoming popular every day. The Pitsenji is not recognized by the AKC, as it is considered to be a hybrid breed (designer breed).

Characteristics:

The Pitsenji is a short hair breed. Pitbull and Basenji both of the breeds don have a very heavy coat that is why Pitsenji is also a short hair dog. The Basenji Pitbull Mix dogs are curious and reserved with strangers and may not get along with non-canine pets. The Pitsenji is very playful which makes him the perfect dog.

Character:

The Pitsenji is a loyal and friendly dog and is better suited for new owners. They are good with kids and parents but we always recommend to provide supervision to avoid any unpleasant situation. These dogs are perfect to be adopted and they can become great family pets. Pitsenji likes to be cuddled and he will lean over you sometimes. This is because they don’t like to be lap dogs. Pitsenjis are affectionate, loyal, and playful dogs. They always try to gain the attention of their owners.

Coat / Care:

This great Basenji Pitbull Mix is short haired and they shed normally. They might lose their old hairs which is a normal process but you will not find dog hairs on your car seats and sofas very often. It is easy to maintain them because their grooming needs are not very demanding and you don’t have to spend time and money for their maintenance.

Health Problems:

Mostly medium and small size dogs are less associated with health issues. Pitsenji can face inherited health problems otherwise there don’t face any serious health problems. They might face retinal atrophy during their lifespan because basenji dogs usually face such syndrome. The lifespan of this breed is 10 to 14 years.

Weight / Height

The Pitsenji is not very big in size. They are medium size dog. The height of this designer breed ranges from 15 to 17 inches while they are 25 to 20 pounds in weight.

Training:

The parent breed of this designer dog can be easily trained and Pitsenjis also have this quality. For new owners, it will be easy to train them to obey. Pitsenjis are very intelligent and friendly and they can learn very quickly. Train them from the early age. Train them for crate and to poop outside the house. Teach them that it is okay to be in crate at little age. Sometimes owner might need to be more patient but Pitsenjis will respond to their commands.

Activity:

The crossbreed of Pitbull and Basenji is very energetic and alert so they require more fitness activities. Take them to walks and also play fetching and other physical dog games. It is suggested to take them to the parks where you can leave them without a leash. Because they are curious it is good for them to get socialized with other dogs and things. This way you can also teach them to behave in public.

Puppies:

Because this breed is new and is not yet recognized by the American Channel Club you might look for the Pitsenji owners from whom you can buy Pitsenji puppies. It is recommended to check the documents of the parents of the breed. This will ensure that you are buying the crossbreed. It is hard to find puppies of this breed in shelter as well.
