Pitbull Dog

The Pitbull Dog is one of the dog breeds that is not recognized by the AKC and comes from the United. The Pitbull Dog is a very lovable dog that does really well in families and has many positive traits. The dog breed of the Pitbull has a difficult and cruel past. The ancestors of today’s dogs were once bred for dog fighting.

Height: 17-19 inches  Weight: 30-85 lbs.  Lifespan: 12-16 years

Pitbull Dogs are medium sized dogs, which can reach a height of 17 to 19 inches. A male can weigh up to 85 pounds and female dogs weigh less than that. Both have an athletic physique with strong legs and a muscular back. In general, the dogs are considered extremely robust. Thus, physique fits the character, which is considered self-confident and sincere.

Head shape of this dog breed is very characteristic. They have a rather large, flat head, which is sometimes slightly rounded. At the snout, head shows a typical wedge shape. The dog fur is short, smooth and shiny. The colors range from white, beige and yellowish reddish tones to brown, black-brown and black.

Pitbull Dogs are very confident and friendly dogs that have a lot of energy and are very playful. Therefore, it is important that you always give him enough opportunities to lose the energy daily. If he gets enough running and a good training, Pitbull Terrier thanks you with much love. They will like you very much, which is why they are very suitable as family dogs.

Pitbull Terriers have a very loyal character and are focused on their masters. They could be hostile to strangers. They are very intelligent and with their strong nerves are willing to become a working dog – for example in the search and rescue area.

In the 1930s, the relative of the Pitbull Terrier, the American Staffordshire Terrier was recognized by the American Kennel Club, which the Pitbull, however, remained denied. His breeding was initially supervised by the United Kennel Club and later by the American Dog Breeders Association, where he still cares for today. The FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale) also still does not recognize the Pitbull Dog. That’s it with history because I think that his present and future are much more important than the past.

Coat / Care:

The nursing effort is comparatively low for the Pitbull Dog. Originating from quality breeding, this terrier is one of the health-robust, yet little-bred breeds. The annual expenditure should be limited to the booster vaccinations against the usual dog diseases and to deworming cures.

The short, very thick coat should be brushed regularly with a suitable Dog Groomer. So you could remove all dead hair and make sure that the coat can exert its conditioning effect optimally. Incidentally, short-haired dogs are far more likely to be hairy than those with a cane, rough or long-haired hair. You will be amazed by the enormous amount of fur that has been brushed out of your short-hair terrier, especially in spring and autumn.

The fine undercoat is renewed and has fine hair. Also, you should regularly check eyes, ears and claws. If your dog does not walk regularly on a hard floor, claw pliers will help.

Health Problems:

The Pitbull Dog is one of the healthiest dog breeds. This is also confirmed by the geneticist Hellmuth Wachtel in his investigations. In some cases, it comes to autoimmune weakness (demodicosis), allergies (mainly grasses) and skin problems (sometimes skin cancer and irritability of the neck). However, these are not as widespread as to be labeled as “race-typical”. With just over 80% of whites, you may be at increased risk of hearing damage, similar to distant relative, the American Staffordshire Terrier

Weight / Height:

The males height is around 18 – 19 inches and weighs around 45 and 85 pounds. Females can reach a size from 17 – 18 inches and weighs between 30 and 70 pounds.

They are very obedient and strive to guess the desire of the owner. It is extremely important to conduct intensive and extensive socialization and training at very early age. In education, do not use coarse or rigid methods. Thus, training should have respect, firmness, fairness, patience and consistency. They are obedient, prompt and conscientious dogs.

The Pitbull Dog enjoys socializing with a man and is ready to participate in any game. With a lot of active walking and good physical exercise, this type of breed can even live in an apartment. Pitbull excels in many dog sports, including weight pulling, dog agility, flyball, lure coursing and advanced obedience competition. This breed get real pleasure from exercise. Since the Pitbull loves tasks, Americans mostly use him as a workhorse in the public service. Here he is used as a personal protection dog, but also as a police and detection dog.
