Havaton: Mix of Havanese and Coton de Tulear - All About Dogs




The Havaton (also known as Cotonese) came to our world by the mix of two breeds, Havanese and Coton de Tulear. Havaton is not recognized by the AKC because it is seen as a hybrid breed. However, this breed got the right to register in Designer Dogs Kennel Club, International Designer Canine Registry, American Canine Hybrid Club and Dog Registry of America Inc.

The Havaton is a very cheerful and caring hybrid dog. They love to play with a family and their friends. Havaton, like other small breeds, has a low voice and rarely barks, they feel great when they get to know the area they live in. Havaton happily fulfills every instruction you give, at the same time, Havaton is safe to be near the children and establishes positive relationships. This breed is known as a wonderful pet and is considered as a hypoallergenic breed. As with all other species, it is also important to socialize this dog from an early age.

Coat / Care:

Havaton needs to be brushed regularly. Due to the current characteristics of Havaton’s hair, it should be brushed and washed 2-3 times a month so that it doesn’t get tangled. At the same time, the hair must be regularly trimmed. Havaton’s ears also require regular care in order to avoid inflammation.

Havaton’s fur resembles the furs of his family. The most common fur is silky or puffy. It is similar to the most common colors of Havanese or Coton de Tulear, also it can be in a single or mixed color. The most common colors are Cream, Brown, White, Silver, Black.

Health Problems:


The Havaton species are generally healthy dog breed. Hence, representatives of this breed are prone to Chondrodysplasia, Eye Problems, Legg-Perthes Disease, Deafness, Heart Problems, Patellar Luxation, and Joint Dysplasia. The Havaton has a life expectancy of 12 to 15 years.

Weight / Height:

The male Havaton dog breed’s height is around 10 – 12 inches and weighs around 10 and 13 pounds. Female Havaton dogs can reach a size of 7 – 12 inches and weighs between 7 and 13 pounds.


The Havaton is known as a dog that can be trained very easily. This designer dog has been used in the circus for many years because it is easy to be trained. It has been determined that these properties are also present in Havaton and they will see you as his owner. You have to be patient and consistent, but never be ruthless or aggressive.


Daily exercises and play time in the garden are very useful for Havaton. However, this dog is also very suitable for apartment life. They do not need to be outdoors for a long time, and they also enjoy being in your lap.
