The Gerberian Shepsky (also known as German Husky) was created by crossing two breeds: The German Shepherd and Siberian Husky. This two beautiful dog breeds will always be dominant. The great thing about this dog is that he sometimes has a pair of blue eyes. His nose is dark brown to black. He has a broad face. His ears and muzzle are usually pointies. The structure of this dog is strong and elegant. This dog comes in a variety of colors, the most common being black and brown with black. Gerberian Shepsky has a double coat. The coat depends on genes of the parents.

The Gerberian Shepsky (German Shepherd Husky Mix) is loyal and energetic hybrid dog. In his nature is to be a protector. This hybrid dog needs training and socialization from a young age. He is a very intelligent dog, so he is great as a working dog. Gerberian  Shepsky is a great choice for different types of work such as acting, search and rescue police operations and even other important military roles, guard dogs. This hybrid dog is very active, and he needs a lot of exercises. He is perfect for his family and children, but they are not always comfortable with strangers.

Coat / Care:

The German Shepherd Husky Mix (Gerberian Shepsky) comes in a variety of colors, the most common being black and brown with black. Gerberian Shepsky has a double coat. The double coat is for protection, and can be medium, short or long.  It is best to brush him twice a day. He is not a suitable dog to living with allergic people. You should regular checking and cleaning regular his eyes. Their ears have a tendency of accumulating a lot of wax. They love jogging and running, long walks. For their health is very important to be active.

Health Problems

The Gerberian Shepsky has an average life expectancy of 10-13 years. The designer dogs don’t inherit most of the health issues present in their parents, but Gerberian Shepsky has a risk of inheriting some disease. The Gerberian Shepsky can have hip or elbow dysplasia. They are prone to epilepsy. They have digestive problems, problems with keratitis, corneal dystrophy, or juvenile cataracts could occur. These dogs may be inherited from parents splenic tumor.

The male Gerberian Shepsky designer dogs height is around 23 – 25 inches and weighs around 65 and 88 pounds. Female Gerberian Shepsky dogs can reach a size from 20 – 23 inches and weighs between 45 and 80 pounds.

Training:

The German Shepherd Husky Mix (Gerberian Shepsky) requires strict discipline. A person who trains this dog must be mentally and physically prepared. If he is not ready for it, he will not be able to restrain the dog. Education requires patience and understanding because this is a very energic dog. If this dog is not trained properly, can be unruly and mischievous. The Gerberian Shepsky loves big space and freedom, so it should be a daily walk. In this way, he will strengthen bones and his physical strength.

Activity:

The Gerberian Shepsky is not properly trained, he is not recommended to be close to young children and to keep in the house. Otherwise, he can without problems lives with people. He is by nature a working dog and likes to be employed. This dog can’t live in very warm regions. The Gerberian Shepsky is suitable for living in cold regions.
